History

1953September Matsuzaki Kougaku Seimitsu Glass Co., Ltd. established in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo with 300,000 yen in capital for the purpose of manufacturing and distributing optical components fabricated with vacuum coatings.
1954February Samezu Factory in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo opens, starts production of vacuum coating products.
1958August

Company changes its name to Matsuzaki Kougaku Co., Ltd.

1959February

Tamagawa Factory (currently the R&D Center) in Ota-ku, Tokyo finishes construction, starts production of various metal surface mirrors.

1960June Company changes its name to Matsuzaki Shinku Himaku Co., Ltd.
1965January Yaguchi Laboratory established in Yaguchi, Ota-ku, Tokyo to develop new products and technologies.
1972March Production of transparent conductive films using ITO begins.
1975March

Kannari Factory (currently Kannari Techno Center) established in Kannari-cho, Kurihara-gun (currently Kurihara-shi), Miyagi Prefecture as a "hometown factory" to improve the quality and expand production of ITO films for liquid crystal displays.

1981October Company receives 1st Science and Technology Agency (currently the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Director's Award for the "Development and promotion of high-performance transparent conductive films using the vacuum deposition method."
1986May Tsukidate Jono Factory established in Tsukidate-cho, Kurihara-gun (currently Kurihara-shi), Miyagi Prefecture to improve the quality and expand production of OA equipment.
1987September Kannari Factory II (currently Kannari Factory) established in Kannari-cho, Kurihara-gun (currently Kurihara-shi), Miyagi Prefecture to expand production of ITO films for liquid crystal displays.
1988September Company changes its name to Matsuzaki Shinku Co., Ltd.
1990September Osaka Sales Office established.
Tamagawa Factory in Ota-ku, Tokyo reorganized and renamed the Research and Development Center.Focus on development is strengthened.
1992April Company changes its name to GEOMATEC Co., Ltd.
1992August Ako Factory established in Ako-shi, Hyogo Prefecture to expand production of ITO films for liquid crystal displays and establish a base in Western Japan.
1993September Inline sputtering equipment installed in Kannari Factory II (currently Kannari Factory). Production of high-quality ITO films for liquid crystal displays commences.
1994November Company is listed on the Japan Securities Dealers Association (currently the Tokyo Stock Exchange and JASDAQ Securities Exchange).
1996March

Head office transferred to Nishi-ku, Yokohama.

2001June Geomatec establishes a factory in Atsugi-shi, Kanagawa Prefecture in alliance with the Kogakugiken Corporation for the purpose of increasing mass-production of optical components for optical communication and refining their technology.
2002July

GEOMATEC (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. is established in Wuxi, China to expand production of optical components for liquid crystal projectors.

2003September As we approach our 50th anniversary
2007December GEOMATEC (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. builds a second factory to expand production of thin-film products for flat panel displays.
2008March Geomatec installs roll-type coating equipment in Kannari Factory I (currently Kannari Techno Center) to expand production of film products for displays.
2013September As we approach our 60th anniversary
2017May Geomatec and Nexco Engineering Hokkaido co-develop a heater for dome security cameras to prevent condensation and snow buildup.
2018January Geomatec establishes a mass production system for thin film technology to be used in HRDP®, a material developed by Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co., Ltd. for the formation of microcircuits with glass carriers to be used in fan-out panel-level packaging.
2018August Geomatec establishes a mass production system for glassy carbon transfer printing plate production technology and highly functional films for the production process of highly functional films with a moth-eye structure.
2021October Geomatec receives the Japan Organization for Employment of the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities and Job Seekers Director's Award at the FY2021 Awards for Excellent Workplaces for Persons with Disabilities.
2022April Geomatec moves to the Standard Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
2022August Geomatec transfers GEOMATEC (Wuxi) Co., Ltd.
2023February Geomatec receives IATF16949 certification.
